During the teenage years, it is often hard to establish and
maintain a trusting relationship with your adolescent. It is not uncommon for an adolescent to stray,
but it is important for you to let him or her know you will always be there. If your adolescent knows you are always available
to listen, he or she is more likely to feel comfortable talking to you.
Another important element for the foundation
of trust is understanding your adolescent.
Adolescents are going through a period of change which can be
difficult. If he or she knows their parents
understand this, they will be more inclined to communicate with you.
